Isabel Stanley design
Isabel trained as a textile designer specializing in embroidery. Whilst researching lampshades for a book in 1997 she realised that only bland colourless shades were available in the stores . With bright ribbons brought back from Guatemala she created the first ribbon striped lampshade, and launched her company. Subsequent collections were snapped up by The Conran shop, Heals, Oliver Bonas and Liberty as well as many other homeware retailers in the UK and abroard.
Fabric, haberdashary, embroidery, bold colour and pattern inspire all the collections.
The Conran shop commissioned their own striped colourways in 1998 and the lampshades are still selling through their stores. The distinctive shades also feature in the 'Pret a Manger' cafes and appear frequently on film and television, a favourite with set designers.
