Indigoelephant is a small, creative, one-person business set-up in 2010 and run by Julia Brooks, a painter. She splits half of her time making hand printed greetings cards, wrapping paper, gift tags and personalised screen prints and the other half producing oil paintings, drawings and original prints.
All of the designs are screen printed by hand onto luxury paper and are a creative outlet for her off-beat sense of humour. They are fun, contemporary, as eco-friendly as possible, original, different and unique.
"I started Indigoelephant to create a job for myself. When i was 17 my art tutor told me that I was good at graphic design and could have a career in this field. Instead I chose fine art and now work part-time as a painter. I wanted my other part-time job to be a creative one, that used my skills. I wanted to work independently (have no annoying work colleagues), have a peaceful working atmosphere (no dastardly office politics) and be self-employed (have no horrible boss). I remembered my old art tutor's encouragement for my graphic design ideas and imagination, I taught myself screen printing to transform my designs into professional products - and the items you see in my store are the results."
"Thank you to all my customers for helping me have this creative job, working for myself. I really do appreciate your custom very much."
