All our products are made from sustainably sourced wood and coloured using nontoxic natural dyes like turmeric and indigo dyes (used in combination with resins) to make lac sticks. Once dyed they are polished using palm leaf to achieve the beautiful shine.

The lacware toys are generally crafted out of Hale/Aale wood which is soft and close grained. It is seasoned and used directly; it does not require any chemical treatment.
Additionally Pine wood may be used for wooden parts that are not turned on the lathe.
Colours used in toys are made by mixing lac and natural dyes
Lac is a 100% natural, non toxic resin and has been used in india since ancient times.It is the secretion of a tiny insect “Laccifer lacca”, which is found on certain trees.The substance is scraped off from the twigs and branches of the trees, cleaned and harvested. The harvested lac is further purified into seed lac, button lac, lac flakes and shellac.Button lac is used by the lacware artisans.
