The colours are pale lilacs, blues, white and yellows and the sun can be seen shining out behind the clouds. The edges of the painting are blurred - which catapults the viewer into the panting and right onto the beach. The first swallow has just arrived and is caught in her mid-air acrobatics wondering which direction she will take. The painting was inspired by plenty of sea watching and by the fact that I love swallows and am so happy each spring when they return to nest in the UK from Europe or Africa. I like the feeling of this painting which, for me, is calming and hopeful at the same time.
