Gas&Air Studios started experimenting with recycled wooden pallets in the back of a garden in Wimbledon, South London, in 2010. Many months and prototypes later thay had designed a fold-out chair and table. The Pallet Chair and Pallet Table, as they came to be named, combine strength of form with environmentally aware design. The designs are simple, essentially resembling small pallets that, with two simple movements, fold out into compact, striking, garden furniture.
Our production process is purely manual and Eco-friendly. Each piece of our furniture is handmade from a single damaged or unwanted wooden pallet by one of our skilled team at our site in London.
We are passionate about the re-use of damaged or unwanted pallets, thousands of which continue to fill landfill sites and litter streets around the UK. We never use new pallets or pallets that are to be re-used.. All unused wood in the production of the Pallet Chair and Table is used to build the XChair, this means there is no part of the pallet that is left unused. We even collect and recycle all the nails gathered from dismantling the pallets.
Gas&Air Studios has been selling in the UK since February 2010 and featured in the 'Green Design' book from Braun Publishing in 2011. They have also featured at Grand Designs Live 2013, Blickfang Design Fair, Stuttgart 2013, and at the Great British Pinic in Manchester, 2010.
