'Baby Gaga' "Babies are such a nice way to start people. Children reinvent your world for you. Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can commit. There are three reasons for breast-feeding: the milk is always at the right temperature; it comes in attractive containers; and the cat can’t get it. Babies are always more trouble than you thought… and more wonderful. A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for. A baby is a loud noise at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other. The worst feature of a new baby is its mother’s singing. Even when freshly washed and relieved of all obvious confections, children tend to be sticky. A crying baby is the best form of birth control. People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one. Making the decision to have a baby — it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body."

'Wedded Bliss' "The more you invest in a marriage, the more valuable it becomes. Men who have a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage. They’ve experienced pain and bought jewellery. Newlyweds become oldyweds, and oldyweds are the reason that families work. A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. Marriages are made in heaven. But so are thunder, lightning, tornadoes and hail. Marriage is the alliance of two people, one of whom never remembers birthdays and the other who never forgets them. Happy marriages begin when we marry the one we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. Never go to bed mad. Stay up and fight. The secret to a good marriage is understanding that it must be total, it must be permanent and it must be equal. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Marriage is more than finding the right person. It is being the right person. A heart in love hears music even when there is silence."

'Midlife Crisis' "Middle age is having the choice between two temptations and choosing the one that’ll get you home earlier. What most people consider as virtue, when you reach middle age, is simply a loss of energy. Inside every middle-aged person is a younger person wondering what’s happened. Middle age is when you turn off lights for economical rather than romantic reasons. When you reach middle age you can’t do anything everyday. Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed. Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle. The first sign of middle age is discovering that the volume knob also turns to the left. Middle age is when you still believe you will feel better in the morning. At the age of 20, we don’t care what the world thinks of us; at 30, we worry about what it is thinking of us; at 40, we discover that it wasn’t thinking of us at all. Middle age is always fifteen years older than you are. The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age."
