A stunning piece of Maya craftswomanship, the pattern is hand-embroidered whilst simultaneously hand weaving the base cloth. No printing, just a millennium of tapestry perfection!
This stunning cushion features an intricate Maya tapestry design from the highlands of Guatemala. The vintage panel originates from a 'huipil", the traditional tunic of indigenous women.
The tapestry panel is a hand embroidered work of art. The skill of Maya master weavers is unparallelled, using only the most basic tools they create mind blowing tapestries. The technique involves weaving the base cloth on a backstrap loom, whilst simultaneously embroidering the complex pattern. This process takes around one month to produce a narrow metre of tapestry.

The cushion is produced in England with contrast piping, plain cotton backing and duck feather pad. 100% Cotton. Dry clean.
Due to the hand crafted nature there may be minor variations in size, and the placement of the pattern may differ slightly on each cushion. All of which tell a part of this distinctive cushion's journey.
