Absolutely Alpaca’s mission is to bring to you high quality, luxurious Alpaca and Baby Alpaca garments for ladies and children. Our hand crafted textiles are soft, snuggly and above all, hardwearing, an unusual combination in natural fibres. Do you like Cashmere? Alpaca fibre is rarer than Cashmere, with a velvety texture that kids will want to stroke again and again.
In order to survive in their harsh native environment, the Alpaca need to be hardy and adaptable – their unusual fleece provides a very special protection. Its hollow fibre qualities make Alpaca fibre eminently suitable for clothing, as it is very light but extremely warm; a natural alternative to synthetic fleece. These properties also mean that moisture is directed away from the body, enabling skin to breathe comfortably. Most importantly, nearly all our garments can be machine washed on a gentle cycle at 30ºC, provided they are not tumble dried.
The ancient Inca civilization referred to Alpaca yarn as ‘Fibre of the Gods’ and it is easy to see why once you have experienced the silky softness of the fabric it produces.
