Product description
This beautiful, old, exceptionally rare and strikingly colourful map was one of the first complete geological maps of the USA, by Charles Hitchcock, 1873.
The version of the map here was published in 1886, with sixteen different geological formations clearly shown. Some of Canada is also visible on this map - as is Mexico, though no geological data is shown. There's a huge amount of detail on this map, though it mostly revolves around rock formations and rivers. Most major cities are shown, but not many smaller towns and the main feature of the map is the various geological deposits and their ages, from quaternary to Mesozoic to volcanic - and everything in between.
