About Us

Luxury accessories for dogs who want to make a statement and their discerning humans.

Established in 2015, The Distinguished Dog Company is a quintessentially British brand, based in a converted barn in Devon. We design and make products for the most discerning dogs that want to look and feel the bees-knees. The inspiration behind the brand is the rather eccentric Lhasa Apso named Nusandilly Rocket Man, or Mr Gatsby to his friends. It all began when we were looking for a bow tie for him for our wedding, and couldn't find anything with a fashion forward feel and level of quality that we thought he deserved. Once the wedding was over, I started making bow ties for him and he wore them everywhere, they seemed to give him an extra spring in his step and sophisticated swagger.

Taking inspiration from the fashion world, the trend-led, sophisticated collection is completely handcrafted resulting in unique pieces that are perfect for dogs with individuality and impeccable taste. We only use high quality materials and finishes that every stylish dog deserves.

How we make our products

A lot of time is taken in designing and developing new products. First and foremost it is about the quality, I always ask myself two questions:

1. It is it making a statement?

2. Would a human think that this is too good for a dog?

if the answer is yes then the materials are purchased and the making begins. All of the fabric products are made by me from start to finish, on my industrial sewing machine.

I have expanded the range to include human apparel, dog gift boxes, collar charms, knitwear and greeting cards - all with dogs and style at the core.

I am fully aware that through creating new products to bring into the world, i am having an impact on the environment. Minimising the impact that The Distinguished Dog Company has on the environment it very important to me whilst balancing quality, style and design. Everything is made to last, buy well, buy once is at the core of the brand.
