Offering every child an outdoor experience whatever the weather. No single-use-plastic, no batteries, no complicated instructions.

Jo and Kay started the Den Kit Company from their kitchen tables in 2008 because they saw first-hand as mums and teachers the huge benefits of creative, fun & unprescribed outdoor play.

Lots of recent scientific studies now support their belief that outdoor play is so important for children of all ages - for both their mental and physical health.

Our Den Kits were designed to encourage children outside - whether a tiny back garden, on top of a hill, in a meadow, field, forest, beach or balcony. The promise of a hand-crafted space in which to set up a temporary retreat is tempting to children (and adults) of all ages, and with little or no previous den-building experience. This is inclusive, simple, unadulterated fun.

Children are at their best when enabled to play outdoors in unstructured activities that allow them the freedom and autonomy to create and imagine
