Cloth Eared Hare Lampshade

About Mogwaii

Mogwaii make lampshades, cushions and blinds inspired by the wildlife and wilderness that surrounds designer, Sarah Campbell on her Highland Croft.

In 2006 Sarah, Yorick and their two sons moved to the Isle of Lismore on the West coast of Scotland, in pursuit of fresh air, wilderness, community and self determination = happiness.

A series of queer events led to their purchase in 2008 of a 40 acre croft which had been the home of Sarah's Great Grandmother, Jane Livingstone. It sits high on the island with loads of wild flowers, Hazel woods, rugged rock formations and breathtaking panoramas of munroes rising majestic from Loch linnhe.

Work began repairing walls, building the barn and planting trees. A custom built studio was created in the barn and Mogwaii Design moved in along with a crew of Shetland sheep and a possy of hens with attitude.

Right now Yorick and a whole load of helpers are building Sarah and Yorick's future home out of straw bales, lime and stone as well as all sorts of scavenged bits and pieces. It is starting to look truly magnificent.

Sarah's job is to keep everyone fed, watered and housed with income from Mogwaii Design so we hope that you enjoy her creations so much that you are driven to purchase at least one!

Inspiration comes from the quirky creatures that tred, nibble and manure the croft daily as well as the plants that they eat. Sarah sketches them and then transfers the image onto fabric along with a bit of paint work and random embroidery.

Mogwaii also create designs for other bigger companies and bespoke commissions for private customers and interior designers.

  • "Received my two daisy lampshades today, and really thrilled with them - how nice that they are both opposite patterns for each side of my bed. So glad to find that you are in Oban - a wonderful place and a favourite of old. Thank you so much - I will be thinking of the harbour there every time I switch them on! Kind regards, Juliet"
