Husband and wife team Mark & Maria Whitehead set up the Hawkshead Relish Company in 1999, making a few relishes, pickles and preserves from their base in a cafe in the Lake District. In 2001 however, disaster struck when Foot and Mouth brought them close to ruin. With no customers, a large overdraft and two small children they were facing a desperate future. Thankfully they saw the opportunity in the empty kitchen and made more relishes taking them to shops and stores within Cumbria. Within a couple of years they had grown the business and won a handful of accolades including the Speciality Producer of the Year Award.
From the beginning, the desire was to make a range that stands out for quality and taste. The condiments are all still made by hand, in small batches at the production site housed in a 16th century barn on the edge of Esthwaite Water close to Hawkshead Village; and although the pans have grown much bigger since those early days, the emphasis on quality has not changed. All the products are free from gluten and nuts, and are free from preservatives, colourings and artificial flavourings.

All orders received before 11.00am will be despatched for next day delivery wherever possible.
Orders received on a Friday will be despatched on Monday for Tuesday delivery. All parcels are sent via our courier service and will need to be signed for on delivery. Occasionally we will substitute an item in a hamper if we are out of stock, this is rare and we would make every effort to ensure you are delighted with our choice of alternative.
