My Story

Welsh & English language cards, prints & gifts, all originally illustrated and lettered by hand in West Wales and designed to brighten any day!

My name is Eleri and I live in Carmarthenshire.

I founded Eleri Haf Designs in 2013. I had been living with a disabling chronic illness since 2006 and I was itching to make a difference in the world and to let out my creative side. I had very restricted use of my hands and limited cognitive function so I had to find a way of creating within my limits. It started with just sticking a button onto a tag, or painting one brush stroke a day. As my health continued to improve, I began to learn the art of hand lettering. I taught myself modern calligraphy and watercolour painting.

My Designs

Each of my designs is created little by little over time, since I am still limited by debilitating symptoms. I often go weeks without being able to paint, so when I can finally bring the ideas in my head to life, it feels like a great achievement and each design means a lot to me. I try to create pieces of art that will brighten someone’s day. I take inspiration from the Welsh countryside and like to use vibrant watercolour inks to paint the familiar flowers and foliage that we find in our gardens and hedgerows.
