This elegant and iconic spitfire Lapel pin is one of the latest additions to Eileen’s Flight collection!
Commissioned originally by her Great Aunt; Eileen was asked to model a spitfire as a gift for a World War II pilot. Now these little gems are available to all! The pin comes in either a unique satin silver finish or or a wonderfully decadent 18ct gold vermeil.
This gorgeous pin looks great when worn on any lapel, scarf or collar. It also looks great on a tie, creating a wonderful conversation piece. It can also be teamed up with the matching spitfire cufflinks, earrings or pendant. A perfect gift for him or her! To mark any occasion!
The pin is made from solid sterling silver. The gold one is also made from solid sterling with an 18ct yellow gold vermeil. It has a traditional clip fastening which fits securely on the reverse. All Eileen's work is handmade in Scotland in her own workshop. Where required Eileen's pieces are hallmarked in Edinburgh, and feature the Assay Office's iconic Edinburgh Castle stamp.
Gold finishes do not tarnish but will fade slightly over time. The plain silver option is also easy to maintain. Eileen suggests using silver dip which can be purchased at most high street jewellers. Gently clean the surface using a soft tooth brush. Stones and pearls however should not be exposed to silver dip, to avoid surface damage.
The wingspan is approximately 2.5 cm across.
