About Me

Illustrated, carved and printed by hand.

Hi, I'm Molly, the face behind Delightfully Chaotic Co.

I started the Delightfully Chaotic Co. in 2017 after finishing my A-levels and feeling unsure of what the future held for me, I took a diversion from my academic roots and explored my creative side. I now specialise in creating original pieces of art that are illustrated, carved and printed by hand using the technique of lino-cutting alongside creating digitally printed art.

My aim is to create art and decor that brings not only aesthetic value to your space but which also encourages and empowers. A lot of my designs include quotes centred around mental wellbeing, whether it's in the form of a hand-lettered sticker stuck to your mirror, or a larger 11" x 14" print displayed in your home, I hope these designs evoke feelings of positivity and hope for the future.

Alongside art prints, I also create a range of hand-carved stamps, greeting cards and illustrated sets of stickers. All of which I make from my home in North Devon.

A flat lay of the tools used to create my prints. Over the top, the names of the tools have been added digitally in hand lettering.A hand holding a card that reads 'today is all about you' in asymmetric hand lettered type with the tools used to make it blurred in the background.A photo of me sat at my desk, holding a mug of coffee, over top of the image are some digital illustrations and in the background there are a couple of plants.

How it's Made

The process of designing and creating my lino-cut prints.

All my designs begin life as digital illustrations on my iPad, once drawn, I print it out and transfer it onto a sheet of lino or rubber. I then begin carving my design using a variety of gouges and blades. It can take anywhere from an hour, to carve a simple design, to a few days to carve larger, more intricate designs.

After carving, I then prep the surface. With art prints, I take large A1 sheets of card and rip them up into the correct sizes, I love this method as it means I can choose any size I'd like my work to be and that each piece has a raw deckled edge which looks striking when displayed in a glass frame. For greeting cards, I measure and cut them with a craft knife and then score the centre fold line.

Next, I print using either colour straight from the tube or I hand-mix a few to get the shade I want. Some designs only require one layer of ink, but some have multiple which need to dry out before the next one can be added, meaning prints can take a few weeks to complete.
