Stag Beetle Natural History Archival Print

A reproduction print of my painting of a stag beetle, featuring a natural history style illustration of the Britain’s largest beetle, Lucanus Cervus, the Stag beetle. The original was painted using FW artists inks, and has been professionally digitally reproduced.

Frightening to look at but totally harmless, these endangered insects are also known as thunder beetles because of their tendency to fly during stormy weather (or perhaps bring it). They were very abundant where I used to live, and this is beetle I rescued from a strimmer. Holding one of these glorious insects is said to protect you from lightning strike, but you might prefer to have one hanging on your wall instead, or perhaps as a protective housewarming gift. Ideal for lovers of storms, insects and vintage ephemera.
