This necklace is an 18ct gold on sterling silver pendant and chain based of a replica coin of ancient Santorini. Each state had its own emblem and the dolphin was the state symbol of Santorini. This design is over 2500 years old. We took a mould from an ancient coin that was not only one of the first Greek, but also European, coins used as currency of the time.
On the front a pair of dolphins are depicted, swimming in opposite directions. The harmonius movement of the dolphins reflects how they swim naturally in the sea & resembles how they were presented in the coinage of 530BC Santorini.
