Our beautiful Aegina gold coin necklace is new for spring and summer 2019.
This is a necklace of an 18ct gold vermeil pendant and chain based on a replica coin of an ancient 'Drachma of Aegina', an island of Attica. A mould was taken from a 540BC coin that was not only the first Greek, but also European, coin used as currency of the time.
It depicts a turtle, the badge of the state of Aegina, which was the symbol of Aphrodite that protected travel and sea trade.
