William Morris once said, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” Inspired by this, in 2016 I quit my job in the fashion industry, disillusioned with creating things that were designed to be disposable and harmful to the planet. I founded Also the Bison to challenge what sustainable looks like. I try to emulate William Morris’ view of the world as I work, hand painting each element in watercolour before collaging them together to form a design that is an explosion of colour. With each print, I aim to capture the curiosity and wonder of the age of exploration that he lived in, inspired by the care taken to collect and record everything from the smallest insect to the greatest mechanical contraptions of the time.

I am also just as passionate about ensuring that our products are created ethically. I work with other small businesses in the UK and Sweden to print our designs, who care just as much about their employees and the environment as I do. Everything is made from the finest natural, recycled and FSC certified materials.

So you can be sure that no bison are harmed in the making of our products, directly or indirectly.
