About

I set up my business in 2003 after studying Jewellery and Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art. Now working from my studio in Glasgow's Merchant City, I design and make my jewellery which is exhibited throughout the UK and internationally.

My jewellery is based on my love of collections, whether in a junk shop, a curiosity cabinet or my Mother's jewellery box. A collection is often charged with personal meaning. Curios are collated by an individual according to their own unique experiences and understanding of the pieces. For the viewer these sometimes unusual combinations can throw up more questions than answers. This ambiguity only intrigues me further.

When translating these ideas into my jewellery I incorporate the shapes, textures and often collected objects themselves. I believe in treating materials of high and low intrinsic value with equal importance.

I have been lucky to received many accolades for my practice including the 2010 Glasgow Craft Makers Award, Best Jeweller at the 2008 Contemporary Craft Fair in Bovey Tracey and Scottish Arts Council's Craft Set Up Grant in 2006. I have also taught jewellery making throughout my career including two year long posts as Artist in Residence at Edinburgh College of Art and the region of Ayrshire.

Terms and Conditions

All of Alison Macleod's Jewellery is handmade by the jeweller herself so each piece might be ever so slightly different from the last. Semi-precious stones can also vary in colour. However it is these subtle differences which hold the charm of hand crafted work.
