This beautifully finished wooden toy is handmade using traditional methods.
An amazing feature of the horse is that the front wheel axis is placed off centre so the horse looks like it it galloping when it is pulled. The cowboy can be taken offf the horse and can be assembled in three parts. The pair has fascinated non-grown ups off all ages and makes a really cool room decoration once the playing days are over.
The colours are all natural vegetable dyes and a harmless non toxic laquer finsh. The wood is hale wood and is sourced sustainably, in this case that means trees that are cultivated on agricultural land. Usually only parts of the tree are used rather than felling the whole tree.
It is made by a beautiful fair trade organization in India. They take inspiration from old traditional toy designs and work with local laquer workers to improve their livelihoods.
It is not easy to find toys these days that are not made from plastic and will be thrown out as soon as the kids grow up, but we think that this toy wil stay with them for a long time and be passed on maybe to the grandchildren.
