Made in Britain
can be personalised
Be prepared to stand out from the masses with our fabulous vintage sailcloth windbreak, entirely made in Great Britain.
An essential item for those in search of the classic British beach holiday experience and updated by us for modern living.
We were the first company to make windbreaks from old sails, way back in 2008. Since then the concept has been copied widely but we're confident that ours are not only the original but also the best. Choose a Reefer windbreak and you are purchasing a family heirloom that future generations will treasure.
Our windbreaks make a fantastic gift and can be personalised for a significant year be it birth date, wedding or anniversary.
Each windbreak is constructed from carefully selected sails with white edge binding and grey webbing detailing.
Your choice of two significant numbers in red, blue, grey and black, we'll add matching 'tell tale' sail trim streamers of your colour choice to each panel too, free of charge.
If you want more personalising, a special colour sailcloth or have particular idea in mind give us a call to discuss, we make many one off designs!
Every recycled sailcloth windbreak we make is completely unique. We select only the softest sails we can find, each with its own character and colour. You'll always find original seam details in the panels and often the original sailmaker's logo, class logo or sail number, batten pockets, reefing lines and re-inforcement patches.
As with all our products, trace the provenance of the source sail we used to make the windbreak on our website or via the Q.R. code on your smart phone, you can view more about the history of the sail often with a photograph of the sail in action!
Once the panels are assembled we add our signature reefing lines to secure the rolled up windbreak and a carry handle carefully positioned for perfect balance. We attach our signature 'tell tale' sail trim streamers to each panel for ultimate authenticity which are matched to your colour choice of logo and significant numbers.
All edges are reinforced with zig zag sewn sailcloth binding tape, standard sail making detailing which we always incorporate but which is omitted on cheaper copies.
The windbreak can be fitted with both an iPod and book pocket for a small additional charge. Both are positioned above sand and sea level, the iPod pocket is large enough for car keys or change for ice creams too, the book pocket is a generous size, designed to take a standard size A4 magazine. Your copy of 'Coast' will be quite safe!
The generous length sustainable softwood poles feature metal reinforcing collars on their heads so they won't split with enthusiastic mallet work and metal clad spikes. Each pole is attached to the sailcloth with our unique webbing hangers, secured with a rust proof stainless steel screw through a nickel grommet fitted to the webbing. This allows the windbreak panel to slide on the pole when required sitting at ground level even when the poles have to be driven a long way into soft sand. They also stop the poles sliding out in transit. Attention to detail again, rather than cost.
No windbreak is any use without a decent mallet and we bundle a locally made one with a durable octagonal beech head with a protective carry and storage bag available for an additional charge.
