Shaped like a flame, this is one of Marco Merlini’s most iconic and bestselling designs. It’s completely handmade using around 300 pieces of locally sourced reclaimed timbers and include, American and European Oak, Elm, Chestnut, Beech, Mahogany, Palmtree wood, Mango wood, Maple, Birch and various types of Pine. The great mix of these timbers compliments the intricate shape which is nailed and glued to ensure extremely high quality so it will last for centuries to come.
This piece will is a true antique of the future, only a few of these exclusive bookcases are hand made each year.
No computer-driven machinery is used, not even for the design process. Everything is done manually with the use of some simple hand and electric tools. The shape is hand drawn on the timber and then cut by hand.
All timbers used are carefully selected for their beautiful grain and are sanded repeatedly to give a beautiful splinterless finish, whilst maintaining the rough look of reclaimed timber. Unlike any other bookcase, this is double sided so it is able to stand alone centrally in a room and enabling you to choose the direction of the flame.
The bookcase shown has no finish applied to it and are also available to order with a dark brown coloured wax and a colourless wax.
Size (H x W x D): 195 x 106 x 25cm
