Blue or Grey Black Striped Handmade Ceramic Saki / Tea Light Bowl by Rowena Gilbert

Ideal to use as saki bowls, tea light bowls, candle holders, for serving olives, nuts, nibbles, for storing jewellery, pot pourri..

Using additions of metal oxides for the blue or black, the coloured clay is inlaid in incised lines on the slip cast form, then scraped back when the clay bowl is in a leather-hard state to reveal the stripes. Rowena bisque fires, then glazes the inside with a transparent gloss with the final firing at 1160°C. All pieces are high-fired earthenware and functional.

All pieces are individually handmade by Rowena in her Brighton studio and have her signature mark on the base.
