Beautiful Striped Ceramic Salt and Pepper / Tea Light Bowls by Rowena Gilbert

Using additions of metal oxides for the black and blue, the coloured clay is inlaid in incised lines on the slip cast form, then scraped back when the clay bowl is in a leather-hard state to reveal the stripes. Rowena bisque fires, then glazes the inside with a transparent gloss with the final firing at 1160°C. All pieces are high-fired earthenware and functional.

All pieces are individually hand made by Rowena in her Brighton studio and have her signature mark on the base.
