Penchant Design

Penchant Design is a jewellery company started in 2003, by Cathy Clayton in Cape Town, South Africa. Penchant is now a family business co-owned by Cathy, her husband Vivien and her sister Penny. Penny is based in London and manages sales and distribution in the UK, and production and design is based in Franschhoek; near Cape Town, South Africa.

Penchant Design is managed with an ethic of purity and quality using only pure materials such as semi precious stones, sterling silver, 18crt gold and Freshwater Pearls. Stones and Pearls are individually sourced by us with quality being the key criteria for selection.

Penchant Design is dedicated to brand awareness and as such all our jewellery is beautifully and individually packaged.

Penchant Design endeavours to produce authentic, exquisite and timeless jewellery. Skilfully handcrafted necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings capture the simple beauty of our grandmothers' jewellery, innovatively re-worked and delightfully refreshed - yet untainted by synthetic components. Penchant Design is a refreshing find amongst today's sea of costume jewellery bulked with glass and plastic.

Our jewellery is designed to complement a woman's natural style rather than dictate it.

Our catch phrase is "Semi Precious Jewellery with Extra Cream" which refers to the passion, sincerity and purity that is captured in our jewellery, that extra touch of quality and luxury.
