Artist: Andrew Brooks
These original prints are not mass-produced reproductions. Each picture is unique, even though it comes from the same carved image.
The drawing is traced on to a lino board and carved as a mirror image of the drawing. Ink is rolled on to the surface of the completed carving and paper pressed down on top. If everything has gone to plan when the paper is peeled carefully back the printed image is revealed. If multiple colours are used (as in the carp and crab prints) then each colour has to be carefully over-printed.
The result is a unique, limited edition, original print. No more than 50 of each image will ever be made.

About the Artist
Andrew Brooks lives and works on Gower in South Wales and takes his inspiration from a love of the sea, and the fish and crustacea that are caught locally. He sees himself as following in the Japanese printing tradition that stretches back to Hokusai.
