The Designer
Noguchi created a design that was both a timeless classic and yet with a simplicity that makes this table able to fit into the surroundings of any home whether it be modern, classic or traditional!
When sculptor Isamu Noguchi began his work in design, his main focal point was the table. In 1939 he designed a one of a kind model with a two piece sculptured base and a glass top for A. Goodyear, the then president of the MOMA in New York. Later, a modified version was made that consisted of two identical elements, one of which was inverted and stuck to the other! Thus in 1944 the famous IN-50 table as we know it today was born. Its simple and yet effective structure rendered it a best seller for many years through manufacturers such as Herman Miller.
