PLEASE NOTE- to use the cutter feature- for safety reasons the metal cutter is not designed to be sharp like a blade. Please push the string underneath the cutter, place your fingers firmly on the string in front of the cutter, and then pull the string back over the cutter drawing it back and forth across the cutter. this will wear through the string in a few moments rather than and instant cut.
