This salvaged, vintage industrial design works perfectly in sophisticated, casual, urban living spaces.
This bench can be made to measure to your own specifications. The bench pictured here is 120cm long x 46cm tall x 44cm deep but the sky's the limit. I can make benches of any length, depth or height and tables and/or stools to match.
The piping can be painted, the scaffolding boards could be substituted for reclaimed floor boards, chunky reclaimed timber of any type, toughened glass, sheet metal, wire grills, railway sleepers etc. I can source anything and gladly will!
You can contact me via the 'ask seller a question' button before the sale, or the 'contact seller' button after the sale.
The scaffolding boards pictured in this example were simply brushed down and painted on the top surface with a watered down grey paint so they retained a gritty raw but slightly less industrial look. They were then finished with a clear matt varnish meaning they can be easily wipe cleaned and are really durable.
Anything you choose to use can be distressed or polished up to create any required finish. Whenever I get the reclaimed scaffolding boards they're rarely exactly the same length as they've generally been doctored from years of use. I can cut them to any required length, and age the freshly exposed wood so it matches the rest of the finish. They're generally split, damaged, rough, chipped, stained etc and this is what makes them so interesting. You can specify any little detail like this you would like left or removed and I can supply it to your exact specifications.
I will communicate with you throughout the development of the project as I source the components you might require. I can also get brand new boards without any of the signs of wear and tear. Please contact me to discuss any ideas or obtain quotes.
The grey washed, salvaged wood planks are created using a watered down water based Cuprinol Fence Preserver. Low in harmful VOC's ( volatile organic compounds) it is comparable to oil-based varnish for its high resistance to abrasion, water and solvents. It cleans up easily with soap and water. As it cures, the molecules become cross linked in a lattice-like pattern that is much more durable than the single-strand bonds formed by conventional water-based finishes. This makes it a good choice for high wear interior applications such as table tops.
A low to no maintenance option that is perfect for everyday family use and easy to clean-up.
