Elle Decoration

We weren't at all surprised when Elle Decoration recently ran an interesting article on consumerism and luxury brands.
The article focused on how the concept of luxury has been changing into a trend Elle called "The New Luxury".
New Luxury, Elle writes, has lead us into "a growth in the "conscience consumer" with affluent shoppers seeking out brands that are environmentally, socially and ethically friendly".
"As such, value luxury is measured not in material terms but in sentimental ones, with a shift towards more inconspicuous personal purchases where the pleasure, freedom and feelings a product gives us means more than the price tag".
This isn't a new concept to us - at Hibiscus Home we have always placed these priorities at the top of our list. We have always felt that customers expect and most importantly deserve to know the true story behind our brand as well as the inspirations behind all of our products.
Our collections have been inspired by real experiences. Inspiration for our collections come from all over the world - from India - imagine picturesque sunsets over the pink city of Jaipur (which inspired our Samiksha range) to Morocco - imagine the lingering perfume of saffron, ginger and orange flower as you meander through the Marrakech souks, lounging on huge comfy day beds, sipping mint tea and mojitos in your luxury riad (inspiration for our Coco Morocco range)!
Our eclectic mix of colours, embroidery, beads and sequins all contribute to a special collection of soft furnishings to bring those luxurious, exotic, bohemian travels into your home.
All of our designs are made by local artisans in Jaipur, India where the founder, Victoria Turnbull, personally met each and every one of them right from the fabric dyers to the embroiderer's, who happily sit and chat while they hand sew each bead and sequin onto our collections. Our Samiksha collection was actually named after one of those very ladies!
Victoria specifically chose a small independently owned company, who employed local artisans who are treat like everybody should be - with respect and a genuine interest in their welfare.
Important to our ethos is also our unique, eclectic designs made from pure, high quality, cottons and silks, with no harsh chemicals added.
Elle goes on to say:-
"The aspect of uniqueness is central to the value-conscious consumer . it seems we are now spending more on one single item that we really love than on many things that don't fully meet our concept of true value".
"Luxury will increasingly reside in the unique, the special and the rare".So when you're placing you're order from our collections, you can rest assured that you are already one of those affluent, conscious consumers well ahead of the "new trend"!
