A unique and shabby chic sculpture evoking memories of the sea and the seaside with its appearance of beach washed and sun bleached wood.
This piece is for anyone who loves the sea, who has happy memories of walking along the beach, exploring hidden fishing villages and secre smugglers coves.
The nostalgia and look of the seaside is encapsulated in the whole look and feel of the piece, it's warm look comes from having the appearance of having spent time slowly eroding within the gentle wash of the sea, the sand and pebbles.
This folksy art piece is made from cut and shaped driftwood salvaged from the seashore and the construction is made inside a simple white box frame that can be hung on a wall.
The surface is richly layered through the build up of collage, using text from books, old postage stamps and a button . On top of all of this are then applied several subtle layers of white wash reminiscent of sun bleached driftwoods, this allows the text to discretely show through and allow the natural colour of the rich weather worn wood and the old crumbling paint to reveal itself.
