HAG STONE HANGING DECORATION

Stones found with a natural hole through them are called Hag Stones.
Long ago, when superstition played a part in everyone's lives, it was common to see these stones hanging above the doors of people's houses in England. They were believed to provide protection for your home and those living within it.
This wreath was made using stones beach-combed from the shores around the Isle of Wight. I have interspersed them with turquoise or red beads and hung the round with natural jute twine.
Turquoise Round measures aprox 17cm in diameter.
Red Round measures 16 cm in diameter.
