Sandra Greenacre

Sandra Greenacre was born in Blyth, Northumberland whose passion for painting started 22 years ago when she was pregnant with her daughter. While some expectant mothers have a craving for chocolate or ice cream she developed a craving to paint which never went away.

A love of nature and the importance of the natural environment underpins Greenacre’s practice and is expressed by the stillness, space and isolation evoked in her paintings. She works intuitively exploring inner landscapes, creating art from within. The idea of making something from inner vision has always held an appeal for her. Spontaneity and immediacy allows the fluidity of brush marks to create an imaginary world. She works mainly in oils, but also does figurative drawings.

Sandra Greenacre graduated with BA (HONS) Fine Art in 2013 from Northumbria University. Since graduating, her work has been widely exhibited in the UK, including London, and Newcastle. In 2014 her work was chosen Best Featured Art Work with the popular online gallery Zealous. In November 2015 she was invited to exhibit work alongside well known celebrities at the Customs House in South Shields in aid of St. Clare’s Hospice. She is currently planning her first major solo Exhibition called ‘A Moment in Nature.’

Her work has been featured in several publications, including Sachet Mixte Themes Oils, Aesthetica Magazine who described her as an artist to watch out for, and in The Newcastle Journal, where her work was described as ‘cool’.

She currently paints from her art studio in the heart of Newcastle.
