Collectibles made in the U.K. using traditional a handmade craft.
Handmade one-off needle-felted collectibles using 100% wool, starting with a collection of British birds. Using a very specific craft called needle felting, and a great deal of practice to create life like birds.
Needle felting looms were first invented in 1866, but it wasn't until the 1980's that someone used the single needle technique we use now. It is a dry form of felting rather than wet felting which is produced using friction and soap and water, and bought felt which uses the same process, but with only 30% wool.
Jo has been needle felting for 8 years now, and using her silver smithing skills to create the birds beautiful copper legs. If there is a bird you don't see, it may just appear soon, or get in touch for a commission. Jo also runs her own art gallery in Berkshire.
