Natural 15oz Canvas bag with text extract from the daily Shipping Forecast and coloured fabric patches appliquéd on. Lined with cotton to match the outside canvas, which is treated to add body. The bag comes with an identification number, eyelet and shackle and jute handles. Designed to be carried in the hand.
Since the start of our bag-making enterprise, the shipping forecast words have proven to be the most popular bag by a long way. Perhaps it's because we all like the the idea of being near the sea, but it certainly helps when the forecast is always good. We quite like the fact that we can offer a shipping forecast for absolutely anywhere - whether it's next to the sea or not.
The bag in the photo features a forecast for the Isle of Wight. If you would like an alternative location, please specify the place name that you would like to be featured in the 'personalisation' box. You can also specify a date for the forecast (anniversary, birthday etc). This makes a great gift, and is the perfect way to remember a beautiful day!
If no preference is set, the date will be as the day of making and the forecast will be for the Isle of Wight.
There are various colour options for this bag.
The wording on this bag reads as follows:
“And now the shipping forecast issued by the Met Office, at (more-or-less) Monday 28 February 2011 on behalf of the (very nice) Maritime and Coastguard Agency. There are warnings of gales in all areas except Cowes (or Seaview) on the Isle of Wight, where the sun will shine and everything will be just fine, thank you very much.”
Obviously, if you choose a specific Town, the bag will feature that town and the appropriate County.
