About Us and Coochi

Coochi is a new brand inspired by our own experiences of first time parenthood. We aim to design high quality essential baby products that help to make life even better in the first weeks and months with your baby.

The Story of the Coocoose®

As friends from university, Annie and I discovered we were going to become mums within a few months of each other and in February 2005, Freddie made his big entrance and Oscar arrived later that year.  We both found bathtimes particularly tricky - trying to juggle a slippery new baby and a towel was not easy. Annies grandmother had talked about a towel that fastened around the neck that we could wrap around our babies as soon as we lifted them out of the bath.

We liked the sound of it so we made one, tried it and we all absolutely loved it. Soon, our friends wanted to know where they could get one from and so the Coocoose® was born.

What is the Coocoose®?

The Coocoose® is a hooded baby bath towel that you wear as an apron. Made from 100% luxurious pure cotton, it fastens easily around your neck and back, leaving your hands free to bath your baby - while protecting you from splashes. As soon as you have finished bathing your baby, simply unpop the easy release poppers and cuddle them dry in the pre-warmed towel straight away.

The Coocoose® ensures you have happier, less stressful bath times with lots of snugly time!

Clever Ideas - the apron towel by Rachel Carlyle
Here's one thing they don't tell you in ante-natal classes: newborn babies are incredibly slippery, which can make bath times a nightmare. Former web producer Annie Legge, mother of Oscar, recalls, "Between getting him out of the water, wrapping him in a towel and drying him, while keeping him calm and walm, I was ending up a nervous wreck." So she and her friend Clare Collins came up with an idea: a bath towel worn by the parent as an apron to make it easier to lift the baby out of the bath. "My mum had remembered that her own mother had used a towel that hung around her neck leaving her hands free," says Annie. "We made an up-to-date version for ourselves, and our friends all wanted to know where they could get one." The pair, from Bath, then set up the firm Coochi and began selling the Coocoose®, the first of a range of products they are planning for new parents.
