Eames Inspired Chair DAW Armchair Eiffel Black Steel Rods Wood Base Legs

Eames Inspired DAW Armchair, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948, known as the DAW (Dining Armchair Wood Base)

The inspiration for the design came from the famous New York Museum of Modern Art competition, “Low Cost Furniture Design” where the Plastic Armchairs were first presented.

The organically shaped fibreglass and reinforced plastic seat shells were later combined with various different bases.

In creating the design, Eames made effective use of groundbreaking processes and new materials and in the 1950’s it went on to be the first mass produced plastic chair. It remains to this day an iconic piece that defines an era yet still remains timeless.

Perfect for the style savvy!

Our Charles Eames DAW style chair is a high quality reproduction which closely respects the original specifications in terms of materials, build quality, design attributes and dimensions. The chair features an ergonomically moulded polypropylene shell seat that conforms to the contours of the body and provides comfortable arm rests, atop a minimalist wood base with black metal struts.

These Eames Inspired dining / desk chairs embody the aesthetic essence of the originals. They remain as they were intended and always should be, mostly without upholstery, in accord with the Eameses wishes that the materials should be expressed with honesty and integrity, yet not self-consciously.

The DAW looks equally at home in the dining room as it does in any other room or location, including lounges, offices, studies, libraries and bedrooms. However, this time around, the chair has evolved and finally is now an eco-friendly one this Eames inspired armchair is made of recycled polypropylene with a steel frame. It remains to this day an iconic piece that defines an era yet still remains timeless.
