Cheet London is an independent boutique label with a rapidly growing reputation. A watch word for style mavens and handbag aficionados alike, designer, Emily Cheetham’s bags and accessories fuse contemporary design with classic undertones to create truly beautiful, timeless pieces. After studying Italian and Art, Emily’s career included a stint at BBC radio and working as a PR before starting up her label in 2003. Craving a career in the creative arts, Emily started with one bag, crafted on her battered Singer sewing machine, and began throwing handbag parties to get the product out into the marketplace. She quickly gained a legion of loyal fans and, within six months, her impulsiveness paid off as the part time hobby became a full time career. Drawing inspiration from the unlikeliest of places, Emily’s core aesthetic is sculpture, high quality and classicism. Heritage is also fundamental, with the designer looking to art deco architecture, traditional Celtic knots, retro, Bakelite fixtures and ornate fretwork. Always with a focus on craftsmanship, personality and thoughtfulness, function is as important to Emily as beauty, giving the pieces a sense of integrity and richness. The press have been captivated by her, too, with Vogue.com lauding her as, ‘A hot new name in bag design’, as well as being named Best Accessories Designer by the London Fashion Forum. The designer has also previously created a limited edition collection for mega brand, HOBBS, and a men’s diffusion range for Designers at Debenhams. Emily has gained an official seal of approval from the industry’s toughest critics, having made it to the last five nominees for two years running in the Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards, in New York, for best Handbag in Overrall Style and Design. Winning reams of press coverage in style bibles like Grazia, In Style, Sunday Times’ Style and Marie Claire plus countless column inches in the papers, Cheet London has been worn by Tulisa, Natascha McElhone, Emma Thompson, Kimberley Walsh, The Saturdays and Jenni Falconer. Collections are available internationally at prestigious stores and boutiques including United Arrows, HP France and Baycrews, Franck et Fils, Tara Jamon and Galeries Lafayette in Paris and soon in La Maison Simons in Canada.
