This wondrous and dramatic sculpture depicts the Orca or Killer Whale (orcinus orca), which is a member of the dolphin family.
A distinctive black and white colour with a big dorsal fin, it is one of the widest ranging mammals on earth and a powerful swimmer reaching 55km per hour.
It is frequently seen around the north western islands of Scotland, especially Coll and Tiree.
These wonderful mammals have been beautifully hand carved and painted by highly skilled craftsmen in Bali, famous for these traditional skills. It is fairly traded and made from environmentally friendly and replaceable softwood, which grows locally. Designed in the UK by British Artists.
