Intarsia knitting, or 'picture knitting' as it is also known, is an ancient textile art that requires immense patience and skill.
Peruvian artists create the garments on a hand operated loom, using a melange of colours to create a mosaic effect which is visible on both sides of the fabric and on both sides of the garment.
These unusual designs are particularly striking when viewed from a distance and richly deserve the description 'art knits'.
